Salvatore “Sal” Pizzurro was born in Boston on March 25, 1937. He is the son of the late Salvatore Pizzurro and Ida (Zito) Pizzurro. Sal spent his younger years in the North End of Boston and as a teenager he moved to Medford, MA. Following the Blizzard of '78 he and some buddies fled the Northeast and headed for California. Sal was a man of many talents but his true passion was sailing.
Sal met the love of his life Shirley and were happily wed in 1986 in a quaint setting in California. He and his wife Shirley had a sailboat docked in Long Beach and sailed frequently, even sailing to Catalina Island. In 1999 Sal and Shirley went on to settle down in Florida where they purchased a home right on the canal where he was lucky enough to live out his passions by restoring a 1981 El Camino and his even greater passion a sailboat that he restored. He went on to join a boat club where he would race monthly in a sailing club where he was truly in his glory.
Sal is the beloved husband of Shirley Pizzurro. Father of Luciana Mazzella and her husband Mario Mazzella.
