Born on January 25, 1929, Ruth was known for her sunny disposition and a life brimming with joy and kindness, qualities that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A graduate of Steubenville High School, Ruth cultivated a lifelong appreciation for learning and community engagement. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Wildwood, FL, where she actively participated and fostered deep connections within her community.
Throughout her 96 years, Ruth embraced life's simple pleasures. She had a profound love for flowers and adored the companionship of dogs. In her younger years, she was also renowned for her exceptional baking skills, particularly her incredible pies and mouth watering cinnamon rolls, which were a delight to family and friends alike.
Ruth is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Carol C. Thomas; Rick Thompson, who was like a son to her; and numerous other cherished friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Gertrude King; her beloved husband, Jack Cunningham; her son, Bruce Cunningham; her sister, Evelyn Robinson; and her brothers, Bernard and Leo King.
A service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at a later date in Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause that resonated with Ruth's compassionate spirit.
