

Born on November 19,1933, in Wilmington, DE, Bob was the son of George and Dorothy Thorpe. He was drafted into the army in 1956, serving 2 years. He was a skilled craftsman owning and operating Norristown Tile and Marble Co. in Norristown, PA for 30 years before passing the legacy to his son. In 1984, he and his wife embarked on a new chapter, moving to Florida for warmth and sunshine. He continued his craft, starting Thorpe Tile and Marble Co., retiring in 2008. He was an avid sports fan, home renovator, storyteller, and beachgoer, enjoying weekends on the Jersey shore and Florida beaches.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Alice (Clark) Thorpe; his four children, Gwendolyn Hontz (Brad) of Seal Beach, CA; Todd Thorpe (JoAnn) of Wayne, PA; Marsha Tiongco (Eugene) of Wake Forest, NC; and Kara Makowski (Paul) of Clayton, NC; seven grandchildren, Danielle Lyon (Joe), Drew Hontz, Kayla Rogers (David), Tyler Seymour, Kamryn Seymour, Colin Makowski, Dayne Makowski and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Carl Thorpe of Coshocton, OH, and Lois Tompkins of Eagleville, PA and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers, Gerald and Herbert.
A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
