

When Bob turned 18, he joined the Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. He was very proud of his service as a Marine Veteran. Bob graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked with the Department of Defense and retired at 55 with 30 years of service.
Bob married Celia Paulette Rockwell on August 18, 1971 in Hopewell, VA. They had two children, Todd Rockwell of Harpers Ferry, WV and Maralee Brown of Spring Hill, FL.
Bob lived an amazing life and he loved the Outer Banks of North Carolina. They owned a fishing cottage and spent much of their free time out on the beach. Bob was an avid surf fisherman and held many trophies and certificates for his catches during fishing tournaments throughout the years. An activity he enjoyed with younger brother Billy Askew.
Bob also was a semi-pro golfer in his younger years and had many tournament accomplishments throughout the state of Virginia.
Bob was an avid motorcyclist, with a love for the open road. He and Celia, toured throughout the United States several times, including an amazing ride from Florida, across the southern route to California, up the Pacific Coast to Seattle WA, and back home through the Rocky Mountains. He attended rallies throughout the country and rode a motorcycle in almost every state, in the United States.
Bob is survived by his wife Celia Askew, his son Todd Rockwell and his husband Kenneth Ware, his daughter Maralee Brown and her husband Philip Brown, Sr. and their two children, grandson Philip “PJ” Brown, Jr. and granddaughter Lexi Brown.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great mentor and friend.
Services will be held at Family First Assembly, 12435 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609, on Saturday, September 28th, at 11:00 am.
