OBITUARY
Iona Catherine Clark
October 25, 1933 – March 7, 2023
Iona Catherine Clark was born October 25, 1933, to parents Robert and Catherine Griffith in Severn, Maryland. She was the oldest of six children. She married Orsen Clark, a career Navy man, April 11, 1952. Over the course of the years, through numerous moves across and around the country, they had seven children. They settled in New Port Richey in 1976. No matter where she lived Iona was an active member of her community. She worked most of her life as a nursing assistant, but also as a worker in the plastic factory in Maryland and as the receptionist at First United Methodist Church of Hudson. Her children were in scouting, and she generously devoted her time to the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts. In Boy Scouts she earned the highest achievement possible for an adult, the Silver Beaver Award. She was a woman of incredible faith and devoted to her church family.
She is survived by all seven of her children, Orsen Clark, Jr., Ona Stanjeski, Robert Clark, Tony Clark, Dave Clark, Larry Clark, Terri (John) Gruss, four of her siblings, Elaine Worley, Charlotte Constant, Robert Griffith, George Griffith, and many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. It is impossible to give an exact number. If you were brought to the house as a friend, you immediately became one of “her kids.”
Iona passed March 7, 2023, and she will be greatly missed by so many whose lives she touched.
Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hudson, in Hudson, FL.
