

was born on March 5, 1933 and passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2025 at the age of 92.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne and their three children, Laurie (Chuck), Mark (Holly) and Julie (Gregg), sister Carol (Dan) eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Bill was born to William and Genevieve Ashton in Piqua, Ohio. He met Jeanne, the love of his life, as elementary students while they were attending Sunday school. This June they would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
Bill was an Eagle Scout and a multi-sport athlete at Piqua High School, and was inducted into their High School Hall of Fame.
Bill attended the Ohio State University, where he was coached on the football team by the legendary Woody Hayes. He graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in civil engineering. He served as President of his Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and was a member of the Naval ROTC. He participated in active duty and the Naval Reserves in the Construction Battalion (“SeaBees”) and he retired as a Captain.
During his 60+ year career as a civil engineer, Bill was responsible for constructing multiple bridges throughout the country. He loved his work, and in his spare time he enjoyed watching sports, especially football, and was an avid Bronco and Ohio State fan. He also loved to ski, bicycle, hunt, travel and had a commercial pilot license.
Bill felt the obligation to give back to the less fortunate and provide guidance and protection to the community youth. He was a devout Christian and attended New Hope Presbyterian Church in Fort Myers, Florida where he was a deacon, elder and Stephen Minister.
Bill inspired his family to always achieve their goals without limits. He was an incredible husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend and will be missed by all.
