Joseph Matthew Urban

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Matthew Urban, 47, of Littleton, CO, who departed this life on December 14, 2024. Born in Gary, IN, on January 12, 1977. Joe graduated from Portage High School and attended Valparaiso University. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend, whose presence in our lives will be profoundly missed.

Joe is survived by his wife, Heather, and his two children, Hailey (20) and Aiden (9) and his ex-wife Melissa (Fluck) Rhodes. He is also survived by his parents, Charles Urban Sr. and Alice (Milner) and step-father Ron Milner, as well as his loving siblings: Sherry Brown, Charles Jr. (Kathleen), and Mark (Sandy). Joe was the beloved uncle to Kimberly, Christopher, Eric, Tyler, Andrew, Mark Jr, Luke and Jake. His family, friends, and all those who knew him will remember him as a complicated man dealing with visible and invisible dilemmas only in search of peace.

Joe enjoyed gaming with his son Aiden and woodworking. He recently built tables that he sold online in the Denver area. He had an incredible talent as a drummer and loved to joke, play pranks with Aiden (at his wife’s expense) and he cherished the time he spent with his family.

In these challenging times, let us find solace in those memories and the enduring love we shared for Joe. The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Joe’s life, reflect on the beautiful moments, and support one another in this time of grief. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at American Legion at 4 Monroe St, Valparaiso, IN 46383 from 1pm to 4pm.
