Wes Edward Thompson

Wes Edward Thompson passed away October 30, 2022. Wes was born December 2, 1975, in Clearwater, FL. He is survived by parents, Marsha and Dan Mullett of Clearwater, FL, and Ed and Joyce Thompson of Palm Harbor, FL, and brothers Kyle Mullett of Clearwater, FL, and Trent Mullett of Cape Cod, MA.

Wes was born and raised in the Clearwater area. He was active, first in the children’s ministry, and then in the youth ministry of Heritage UMC. Wes was a Scout with Troop 413, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Wes graduated from Countryside High School and attended college for two years.

Wes had a wide range of talents and interests that he mastered. He loved music and loved to sing. As a teen, he became an accomplished bagpiper at Dunedin Middle School. He developed a love for flying through building and flying model airplanes as a boy with his father. He later became a private pilot and recently learned to fly drones. Wes loved to travel and visited Europe several times.

Wes started working at a local Pinch A Penny Pool Supply store and eventually worked his way up to owning the franchise. He had a strong work ethic and excellent people skills. Wes was a good salesman and entrepreneur. These talents allowed him to build a spin-off pool cleaning business into a large operation that serviced over 600 homes in the area.

Wes loved to work hard and was always very proud of the things he accomplished. He loved all things electronic and even taught himself the intricacies of computer networking and security systems. He became quite literate in network design and operation and the internet. He helped family and friends by designing and installing security systems and home and business networks.

Above all, Wes was kind, considerate, thoughtful, and very meticulous. He had a heart for people going through hard times and reached out to rescue troubled people and animals. Those who knew him, loved and appreciated him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Heritage United Methodist Church in Clearwater at 4:00pm on November 16th.
