Vincent was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Lindenhurst, Long Island before relocating to Florida in 1960. He graduated from Dixie Hollins High School. Following his tour of duty in the United States Air Force as an Aerial Photographer, Vincent earned his BA degree from the University of South Florida. He made learning and a readiness to pass on his skills and knowledge lifelong habits.
He built up a trove of skills and knowledge from his many varied work experiences. In 1981, Honeywell hired him as a Configuration Management Specialist for the Space Shuttle Main Engine Control program. He retired from Honeywell in 1993 when no new Main Engine Control units were going to be produced.
Vincent enjoyed running, crewing on a friend’s sailboat, target shooting, and most of all playing tennis. He combined his mechanical aptitude and business knowledge to partner with his wife in a tennis venture, String Along With Vince. Vincent achieved Master Racquet Technician certification which led to his being invited to string for the ATP and WTA pros at tournaments around the world: China Open (Beijing), Roland Garros (Paris), Australian Open (Melbourne), US Open (New York), NASDAQ (Miami), and Sony Ericsson (Miami).
Vince was also a certified teaching pro through the PTR as well as stringing instructor and tester for the USRA. The customers of String Along With Vince benefitted from his expertise, honesty, and fairness for the 25 years the business was open. The venture ended as his health declined significantly.
The left-handed, blue-eyed, witty man of Sicilian and Calabrese heritage cared deeply for family, was a loyal friend, a loving husband, and always strived to meet every challenge with his very best effort.
Vincent and his wife Margaret (Peggi) enjoyed Disney World, B & B’s around FL, other US travel, and European cruises.
Final arrangements were made through National Cremation Society in Clearwater, Florida. Vincent’s remains will be inurned at Bay Pines Military Cemetery at a future date.
