Veronica Katherine Hendricks

Ronnie was born on April 25, 1933, in Yonkers, New York, the daughter of George and Mary Schuler. She graduated from Commerce High School, where she studied bookkeeping and accounting.

On June 10, 1953, Ronnie married Richard Hendricks, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage until his passing on July 29, 1991. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and tradition.

Ronnie was a devout Catholic whose faith remained an important part of her life. She was generous, independent, and deeply devoted to those she loved. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she especially treasured gatherings with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She created and passed down holiday traditions that became an important part of family life and will continue to be celebrated for years to come.

Ronnie was an accomplished homemaker, cook, and baker who devoted herself to raising her family. Once her children reached school age, she entered the workforce part-time and later pursued additional studies related to banking and computers as her career developed.

Ronnie worked at Hudson Valley Bank from 1980 to 1997, where she rose to the position of Assistant Vice President and Manager of Loan Operations. She later continued her work with the bank on a consulting basis from 2001 to 2004.

Ronnie was a skilled seamstress and quilt maker who created beautiful pieces with care and craftsmanship. In recent years, she kept her hands busy creating afghans, many of which were donated to nursing homes. Her handmade quilts and blankets remain treasured gifts that her family will enjoy and pass down for years to come.

Her love of travel led her on trips all over the world. She also sought to understand and preserve her family’s history, devoting considerable time to researching genealogy and carefully building the family tree, preserving a meaningful record of her family’s history.

Ronnie’s kindness and friendliness made her a joy to be around, and those who had the pleasure of knowing her held her in the highest regard. She carried herself with elegance and dignity, taking pride in her appearance and reflecting the grace and self-respect that were so much a part of who she was.

Ronnie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hendricks; her parents, George and Mary Schuler; her sister, Irene Schwab; her brother-in-law, Herman Schwab; and her aunt, Helen Sawastiuk.

She is survived by her three children, Richard Hendricks and his wife, Diane; Steven Hendricks and his wife, Yvonne; and Catherine Israel and her husband, David.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Naomi Sharkopf and her husband, Jason; Jessica Hendricks; Daniel Ruales and his wife, Kiley; Jonathan Ruales and his wife, Chloe; Anna Saylor and her husband, Trevor; and her great-grandchildren, Ella Ruales and Emmy Ruales.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Ronnie’s life will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 2757 Alderman Road, Palm Harbor, Florida 34684. Viewing and Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m.

She will be laid to rest with her late husband, Richard, at St. Mary Cemetery in Yonkers, New York.

Ronnie leaves behind a rich legacy in the family she loved, the traditions she created, the beautiful things she made by hand, and the family history she worked so carefully to preserve. Her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed.

Throughout her life, Ronnie generously supported many charitable organizations. Among those especially meaningful to her were Tunnel to Towers Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Habitat for Humanity. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Ronnie’s memory are invited to make a donation to one of these organizations.
