

89, Tarpon, Springs, Florida. Died on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Meadow Park Dunedin. Tim was born in Newark New Jersey. He came to Florida 38 years ago from Fayson Lakes, New Jersey; Tim graduated from St. Benedict’s Prep., Newark N.J.; Scranton University and Seton Hall University. Tim focus was always education on he started his career as a teacher in Newark New Jersey. Following that he was the football coach at Harrison high school, and then later moved to Dunellen, New Jersey, where he coached the basketball team, and was the Director of guidance. Following that he became the Director of student personnel services in Butler, New Jersey, where he worked for over 20 years After retiring and moving to Florida, he continued his involvement with education and community service, where he worked for the YMCA and for several local schools. As a resident of the DeerHollow community, he served as a member of the Deer Hollow board for over 10 years, and also worked with many committees and community projects. Tim was an army veteran; a member of Saint Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church; a member of the Knights of Columbus; the Tarpon Springs rotary club and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Tim enjoyed traveling with his family camping all across the United States and Canada. Cruising was one of his favorite things. The Caribbean and Europe, were favorite destinations. He also liked South America and Alaska. Tim loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara and his four children; Kathleen Nelson, Timothy, Maura Snow, and Patrick .Tim had nine grandchildren; Samantha; Courtney; Karley and Jack Nelson; Taylor Ann; Graham & Riley Marie McGovern; Sidney Elizabeth; Satchel Snow plus four great grandchildren, Scout.;Forest ;Sunny Leuth And Florence Romer. He also had many Nieces and nephews
Tim was predeceased by his parents; John and Ann Mcgovern, and his four brothers; George; Jack; Thomas; James, Robert and his sister; Mary Regina. A memorial mass will be held on April 13, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Saint Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church; Tarpon Springs Florida. A celebration of life will be held at the Wentworth golf club on E. Lake Rd., Tarpon Springs, Florida from three till 7 PM. Private burial services will be at Bay Pines national cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Saint Jude or your favorite charity.
