OBITUARY
Sidney M. Boughton
May 14, 1949 – March 16, 2023

The celebration of the beautiful life of Sidney Mosedale Boughton, will be held at the Safety Harbor Spa, on Saturday, April 1st, from 1:00-3:00pm.
How does one summarize the life of a man so profoundly loved, full of purpose and courage, taken far too soon for all of us to accept? In reflection of this question, Sidney might have responded with, “I can’t believe that I got to do all that I did,” rather than with “I wish I had.” No regrets. A life well lived, full of love, joy, and adventure. May God bless all of us in that way.
Born to Joan and Sidney Boughton, on May 14, 1949, Sidney set the stage for greatness for his younger brothers, Glenn and David. A gifted athlete, and fiercely competitive, Sid was inducted into the St. Petersburg High School Hall of Fame for his excellence in football. Years later, Sid, being a world class pickleball player, would become a two-time champion of the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships held in Naples, Florida. It was in that realm that he made friendships with some truly wonderful people that he loved like family.
Setting an example of what it looks like to intentionally love and spend time with family, Sid followed his father’s footsteps in the practice of organizing family gatherings to go skiing, fishing, snorkeling, diving, motocross and car racing, and northern trips to NYC with his honey. His kindness and generosity are exhibited in the life of his son, Sid J., with whom he shared many of these adventures with.
Sidney’s greatest love was cruising together through life with his best friend and darling wife, Yvonne, whom he cherished and tenderly cared and provided for. Motorhome trips to Disney, daily golf cart rides, riding bikes, walking their precious puppies, boating, beach activities, and a variety of libation tasting opportunities were just a few of their favorite activities enjoyed exclusively. Such a blessing to adore and treasure one another. Ooh baby, the music of their marriage was made for love!
Sid was also graced by serving his country proudly, by enlisting in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. His strategic service is highlighted in several of the famed author, Johnnie Clark’s, war memoirs. Sid had much devotion and admiration for his life-long friend, Johnnie and wife, Nancy.
Sidney retired from Jacobson Homes (but, did he really?) as the Chief Financial Officer, after holding many titles. He enjoyed a long lasting, complementary relationship with the Jacobson family for 44 years.
Blessed to recollect their memories of Sidney, are his cherished wife, Yvonne, beloved son, Sid Joseph and wife, Jennifer Boughton, and stepdaughter, Farrah Fitzgerald, and his puppy, Gizmo. He is further survived by his stepmother, Nancy Boughton, brothers who he adored, Glenn (Sandy) Boughton and David (Vicky) Boughton, beloved step siblings, Lynn, Lori, and Marty (Kat) Mohney, sister-in-law, Deborah Pfeifer, brother-in-law, Joseph (Diane) Garbinsky, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear nieces and nephews.
Our prayer is that the unchained melody of Sidney’s adventurous life continues for eternity with God, with those who have gone before him, his parents, and his mother and father-in-law, Joseph and Viola Garbinsky.
“Woah, my love, my darling, God speed your love to me.”
