1938-2023
The God who created heaven and earth breathed life into his child Sally Patricia Huffman on February 22, 1938. She was born in Huntington, Indiana to Dean and Mary Huffman (ne, Breedlove) of Warren, Indiana, the first of three children. Dean and Mary, along with Sally, Mike and Mary Kay moved to Muncie, Indiana in 1945. Outgoing and gregarious, Sally attended and was one of the most popular students in the 1956 graduating class of Muncie Central High School. Sally raised four beautiful boys, Jeffrey Dean, Joseph Anthony, Jonathan Bent and Jack Andrew. As a single mom of four boys, she dedicated her energy and passion to loving them fully, providing for their needs and encouraging them in their gifts and interests. She had a long and successful career in several sales and support roles demonstrating a sharp mind for business and strong project management skills. She retired after 10 years of service from the regional operations team at Target in 2003. Along the way, she provided for her family in Missouri, New York, Indiana and eventually moved to Florida where she lived for 33 years. After retirement, she worked with the Clearwater Police Department for over a decade serving her community. She also faithfully volunteered her time and talents in community engagement and outreach in the North Greenwood area of Clearwater for many years. She loved it very much and looked forward to it every year.
During her several years in Indiana, Sally was actively involved in community theatre and was a lover of the arts and music her entire life. Sally was also an avid reader, often devouring three or four books a week, most of which were crime dramas, mysteries, or historical fiction. She loved to cook and bake, and was a celebrated expert in beef and noodles, sausage biscuits and gravy, German chocolate cake and fajitas. Sally stepped into a relationship with Jesus in the early 1980’s, a choice that would mark and guide her path the rest of her life. She was deeply committed to her faith and loved Lifebridge Church. She was a model of faithfulness to her family and church community, attending church weekly, reading the bible every morning, and praying daily for her boys, their spouses, her 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and many others. Her favorite among all her favorites was her youngest son, Jack, who had down syndrome and was her day-by-day companion and the source of her greatest joy here on earth for forty-seven years. Jack went to be with Jesus in 2020. Sally is survived by her sons Jeff (Jill) Walser, Joe (Rachel) Walser and Jon (Dawn) Walser. She will be deeply missed as we all await being reunited with her in the Lord’s grace and timing.
A celebration of life will be held on December 9, 2023, at 3pm at Lifebridge Church at 300 East Bay in Largo, FL 33770.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made on behalf of Sally Huffman to Lifebridge Church, 300 E. Bay Drive, Largo FL 33770
“I’ve thrown myself headlong into your arms—
I’m celebrating your rescue.
I’m singing at the top of my lungs,
I’m so full of answered prayers.”
