Ron was born on June 30, 1942, in Adrian, Michigan to Dale Albert Leonard and Wilma May Falor. He grew up on a farm in Jasper, Michigan. He had one sister, Vi, who preceded him.
Ron and his first wife, Mary Miller, had a son Rodney and a daughter Michelle. Ron later married Mary Houx Leonard in 1980. After moving to the Tampa Bay Area, he worked as a barber among other positions in St. Petersburg, FL.
Ron and his second wife Mary H. put a lot of time into their faith and enjoyed fellowship with others as part of their participation in several bible groups often in their home. Ron enjoyed music and he along with Mary H. often held Mountain Dulcimer “jam sessions” at their home. Ron enjoyed playing his guitar, as well as strumming his large base and even played a little ukulele.
Ron really enjoyed good food and really liked a great steak along with a nice cold beer as well as eating Mexican food when he got the chance. He enjoyed grilling, especially at their home in Mainland’s (Pinellas Park, FL) where they enjoyed the company of good friends.
Ron enjoyed making people laugh and he was a great companion to his wife Mary H. as they complemented each other in many ways. She helped him strengthen his faith and he helped her appreciate the everyday joys of living.
Ron loved dogs. He had several dogs growing up and both he and his wife, Mary H. really enjoyed their Scottish Terriers, Aaron, Caleb, and especially Angus. In addition, Ron liked to entertain his grand doggie Copper.
Ron and his wife Mary H. also appreciated the help they received towards the end of their lives from several wonderful caregivers both at Westminster Shores in St. Petersburg, FL as well as the Bridges in Riverview, FL.
Rons final wishes were to have his and his wife Mary H’s ashes spread in the Gulf of Mexico.
Ron is survived by his son, Rodney Leonard of Leonard, Michigan, as well as his wife Mary H.’s sons Christopher Harbord (Beverly) of Lithia, FL and Jonathan Harbord (Marlene) of Walkersville, Maryland. Ron enjoyed being Oompa to Lexie, Julia, Hannah, and Joshua Harbord.
