OBITUARY
Robert Mark Peters
June 30, 1951 – March 13, 2023

Retired Major Robert (Bob) Peters, died 3/13/23 in St Petersburg FL at the age of 71.
Bob was born on June 30th in LeMars, Iowa in 1951 to Walter and Mildred Johnson Peters. He was the youngest of five and was welcomed home by brothers Ron, Dave and Denny and sister Pat. He graduated from West Sioux High School, Hawarden, Iowa in 1969. He graduated from Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In May of 1975 he married Linda Klein in Moville Iowa. Bob and Linda are blessed with two children, Jane and James.
After graduating from college, Bob worked for Joe’s Ready Mix in Sioux Center IA. He also enjoyed playing fast pitch softball.
In 1975, Bob joined the United States Air Force. After completing basic training and technical school, he was assigned to Minot Air Force Base ND from 1976 to 1980.. After completing four years of service, he applied and was accepted to Officers Training School (OTS). After completing OTS he became a personnel officer and was assigned to Ellsworth Air Force, Rapid City SD from 1980 to 1983, Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha NE from 1983 to 1987, Eaker AFB, Blytheville AR from 1987 to 1990, Yongsan Army Base in Yongsan, South Korea from 1990 to 1991, MacDill AFB, Tampa FL from 1991 to 1995, and McClellan AFB, Sacramento CA from 1995 to 1997. He retired from the military in December 1997. While assigned to Eaker AFB, Bob received his Master of Science Degree with a Major in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas in 1990.
While in the military, Bob enjoyed playing golf, slow-pitch softball, basketball and bowling.
After retiring from the military, Bob took on part-time jobs so he could spend more time at his favorite activity, golfing. He enjoyed spending time with his friends on and off the golf course. He also helped coach Jim’s little league baseball teams. He loved watching all sports on TV.
Bob also enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren.
Bob was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, St Petersburg FL.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years Linda. He is survived by two children Jane (Jason) Hamblin and James Peters, three grandchildren Jay Hamblin, Jackson Hamblin and Julia Hamblin, sister-in-law Sheryl Peters, Sibley IA, sister-in-law Carole Peters, Fort Dodge IA, sister Patricia (Larry) Holm, Whitehouse TX, brother Dennis Peters, Hawarden IA and his dog Millie.
He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Mildred Peters, a daughter Kelly Lynn Peters, his brothers Ronald Peters and David Peters and sister-in-law Randee Peters.
A memorial service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 301 58th St S, St Petersburg FL on April 15 at 10:00am. A reception will be held immediately following the service. Memorial gifts can be made out to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Pack-a-sack program.
