Bobby was born on October 22, 1971, at St. Mary's Hospital in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Robert James Calligy, Sr. "Boots" and Patricia LaBruno "Pat." A proud New Jersey native, he graduated from Hoboken High School in June 1989. It was there that he met the love of his life, Angelica Delgado, in 1987. The couple married on June 15, 1990, at St. Lawrence Church in Weehawken, New Jersey, beginning a loving partnership that spanned 36 years. Together they built a beautiful family, raising three children: Devin, Dillon, and Kayla.
In October 1989, Bobby enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served during the Persian Gulf War era. His military service remained a source of pride throughout his life. An avid Harley-Davidson rider, he found camaraderie and purpose as a proud (former) member of the US Military Vets MC Tampa Bay.
Bobby treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Angelica Calligy; his children, Devin James Calligy, Dillon Michael Calligy (Christy Richardson), and Kayla Maria Moothedan (Noah Moothedan); and his cherished grandchildren, Ashton Richardson, Luke William Calligy, Indy June Moothedan, and Oliver Augustine Moothedan; and his mother-in-law, Leka Delgado. He is also survived by his sister, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever miss his presence.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert James Calligy, Sr. and Patricia LaBruno, as well as his beloved dog, Zoey.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, in Bushnell, Florida.
Bobby lived life on his own terms, with loyalty, determination, and an unmistakable spirit. As Frank Sinatra sang in one of Bobby's favorite songs, My Way, he truly "did it his way." Bobby will be remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
