Richard J. Simon

Rick graduated from Gloversville High School in 1967, and continued his studies at SUNY New Paltz. He then joined MCA Records, where he worked for over 30 years and cultivated what would become his lifelong specialty: knowing an unnecessary amount of music trivia at any given moment.

He married Toni Simon (Sinatra) in 1971. They had two daughters, Sara Simon-Shult (Keith) and Kate Simon-Hart (Daniel) who inherited both his personality and his inability to let a wrong lyric go uncorrected. They were also blessed with four grandchildren, Keiran and Tristan Shult, and Lyra and Aiden Hart.

Rick and Toni relocated to Palm Harbor, FL in 2001, where he began a new career as a real estate agent, because apparently one career in talking to people about things they didn’t know they needed was not enough.

Rick was predeceased by his wife, Toni Simon. He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, sister Kathy Gordon (Simon), niece Ashley Morrison (John), and a wide circle of cousins, friends, and anyone who ever found themselves trapped in a conversation that somehow turned into a full Beatles timeline.

Rick had a deep and unwavering love for music, particularly for classic rock and The Beatles, and an even deeper love for telling you exactly why you were wrong about which album came out first. His knowledge of music history and trivia was extensive, occasionally unsolicited, and always impressive.

He will be deeply missed, fondly quoted, and forever impossible to win a music argument against.
