These seem to be normally started with; “It is with a heavy heart” or “It is with great sadness…” But I feel that the actual depth of the sorrow in the heart cannot be truly summed up with these simple words. The pain felt by each person who truly loved the one who has left this world, is unique to each individual who feels it and no mere words can truly describe this overwhelming sadness.
Nell J. Goodrich, A.K.A., Nell C. Jackson was a person of truly humble origins. She was born Nell Charlene Johnson on February 25, 1924 in the small town of Madison in northern Florida. And only those folks who actually lived through the great depression have an understanding of what this time in history was really like. Out of this tough, incredibly poor start in life evolved a caring, simple, strong independent lady who was the epitome of Southern charm and hospitality. Over the course of her life, she was witness to so many changes and advancements in human history, of which she reminded us all in stories “of how things used to be” quite often. This also helped to shape her as a unique person with a perspective unlike what most people see—especially in today’s quick paced world. She will be missed with a depth that goes far beyond the words written here.
With the utmost love and respect, she is survived by her sons, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a wonderful group of dear friends.
