Mary Ann Lazicki-Nugent, 90 and a 1/2 years young, passed away peacefully at Suncoast Hospice Care Center on January 17, 2026. Born in Staten Island, a graduate of Port Richmond High School, moved to Florida to be near her family in the early 80's.
She spent the majority of her work life in the role of an administrative assistant at the Jewish Community Center in Staten Island, NY, Anchor Saving Bank in Pasadena, FL and Franklin Templeton Bank in St. Petersburg, FL. She enjoyed helping others and making people smile. She was a true social butterfly.
Outside of her work you could find her in her happy place, playing until her heart was content, at bingo and eventually upgrading to slot machines at casinos. She also enjoyed basking in the FL sun perfecting her tan. She always dressed to the nines, matching from head to toe in her thrift store finds. She was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and thought he was still alive until the day she passed away. Wondering if he met her in heaven? In her laters years, she enjoyed spending quality time with her TVLand friends, Herman Munster, Andy Griffith, the four Golden Girls: Rose, Blanche, Dorothy and her favorite, Sophia.
She was preceded in death in by her mother, Mary Ana Miko; her father, Joseph Lazicki; her daughter, Coleen Nugent-Freshman; and her beloved furry friend, Brandy.
She is survived by her sister, Joanie; her daughter, Mary Ann; her beloved granddaughters; and extended family members and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Sleep with the angels. S.W.A.K. (sealed with a kiss, what we wrote on the envelopes of the cards we sent back and forth).
We will be having a Celebration of Life in her honor on February 28, 2026. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to:
Pet Pals Animal Shelter (www.petpalanimalshelter.com), Friends of Strays (www.friendsofstrays.org), or any no kill animal shelter in your local community.
