Madelene was born on February 17, 1940 in Deshler, Nebraska. She dedicated her life to loving God, caring for her family, and serving others. She was a devoted wife to Wendell F. Casper; a cherished mother to daughter, Bobbi and son, Fred; and a beloved grandmother to Isabel Casper, Madelyn Casper, Luis Cadena, and great-grandmother to Rohnon Cadena and Lilyaine Cadena. Her gentle spirit, great sense of humor, warm smile, and steadfast faith touched everyone she met.
She spent most of her early adult life living between Bruning, Nebraska, and Clearwater, Florida. In Nebraska, she was a hard-working mom and farmer’s wife who wasn’t afraid to drive farm equipment when needed.
In Florida, she worked as a personal assistant at Bilgore Groves and retired with 25 years of service at the Pinellas County sheriffs department. She spent many years working both jobs to help provide for her family.
Madelene was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Largo, Florida, where she served in the Eucharistic ministry, financial office, and many other roles. She found joy in spending time with family, serving others, volunteering at church, listening to live music, and playing cards with friends. Her life reflected the words of Proverbs 31:28-29: “ Her children arise, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
She is survived by her daughter, Bobbi Lynn Casper of Clearwater, FL; son, Frederick G. Casper and daughter-in-law, Tonia Casper of Grapevine, TX; and honorary son, Johnny Limbaugh of Largo, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Bartel and Gertrude Zeems Bartels; sister, Gloria Bruns; brother, Dale Bartels; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Cadena Casper and her husband, Wendell F. Casper.
A Celebration of Madelene Louise Casper‘s life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 455 Missouri Ave. N, Largo, Florida 33770. There will be no burial because Madelene had chosen to be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Largo, FL or to Special Olympics.
Her legacy of faith, kindness, cheerfulness, love, and tenacious work ethic will continue to inspire all who knew her.
