Linda Lucille Potter (Harris) of Seminole, FL passed away on August 13, 2025 at the age of 77. She was diagnosed in 2014 with Alzheimer’s Disease. She subsequently suffered a debilitating stroke in March 2020. Alzheimer’s never dented Linda’s gentle, sweet, cooperative, loving spirit. She was a joy to be with until the very end.
Linda was born in Britton, South Dakota and grew up in such towns at Aberdeen, Sioux Falls, and Rapid City, as her dad’s highway construction business evolved. She graduated from high school in Rapid City, then earned her pharmacy degree at South Dakota State University in Brookings. She moved to Minnesota with her first husband, Harold Larson, where she practiced pharmacy for several years. Always a lover of small children, Linda opened a Montessori-affiliated children’s day care center to pursue her true passion of caring for others. Later she taught Montessori preschool at Lake Country School in Minneapolis, where she was loved by the staff and children alike. After many happy years of teaching, she realized that a teacher’s pay was insufficient for a single mom and returned to the pharmacy profession. In her final years of practice, Linda worked as a relief pharmacist at some 70 Target stores, scattered across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Florida.
Linda and Bob officially married in 2000 and were together for more than 30 wonderful years. The couple enjoyed many years of recreational boating – and a few moments of terror – on the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers, and after moving to Florida in 2005 on the Gulf Coast. Linda also enjoyed RVing, skiing, snowmobiling, cruise ship trips, and other adventures. An avid gardener, Linda had a huge flower garden with many unusual species at her house in St. Petersburg. She loved collecting and planting seeds and watching what would sprout. Other hobbies included photography, baking, quilting, crafts, genealogy, jigsaw puzzles, walking, and reading. She was a member of America’s Boating Club|US Power Squadrons, where she was treasurer in 2013 of the St. Petersburg chapter. Linda earned the grade of Senior Navigator after passing all the club’s education courses. She was also a past member of the Boca Ciega Yacht Club and the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.
Linda is survived by her husband, Bob Potter; son Jacob Larson of Maplewood, Minnesota; sisters Barbara Ostlund of Stillwater, Minnesota; June Robele of Sarona, Wisconsin; Betty Harris of Rapid City, South Dakota; and brother Richard Harris of Rapid City South Dakota.
An informal memorial will be held on Thursday 28 August at 1430 at Lake Seminole Square, 8333 Seminole Blvd., Seminole FL 33772. Linda’s ashes will be buried at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, following a 12:30 PM service on Thursday, October 9 at the cemetery chapel.
