James "Jim" Joseph Sheridan II

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 27, 1949, Jim was the second of four children and grew up alongside his siblings, Patty, Tommy, and Michael. From an early age, he developed the determination, curiosity, and hands-on spirit that would define his life. He later graduated from Rutgers University College of Engineering, a reflection of both his intelligence and his lifelong love of building and creating.

To know Jim was to know someone who could always be counted on. He was the person who stepped in when something needed fixing, who volunteered for the difficult project, and who somehow made every challenge seem manageable. Whether he was renovating a home, repairing something broken, or dreaming up his next project, he found joy in working with his hands and bringing ideas to life.

But the things Jim built that mattered most were not made of wood, concrete, or tools. They were the relationships he nurtured, the family he loved, and the memories he created with those around him.

Jim had a lighthearted spirit and an easy smile that drew people in. He loved to laugh, loved to make others laugh, and had a way of making any gathering feel brighter simply by being there. Friends and family knew him as someone who approached life with optimism, humor, and a genuine appreciation for the people around him.

He also found happiness on the running trail, sharing miles, conversations, and friendships with fellow runners and run clubs. The friendships he formed through running were another example of his ability to connect with others and make lasting impressions wherever he went.

Above all, Jim was devoted to his family. He leaves behind his beloved partner, Sunny; his children, Jay, John, and Jenny; his five cherished grandchildren; and his siblings, Patty, Tommy, and Michael. His love, guidance, and example will continue to live on through each of them.

Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, those who loved Jim find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind: the projects completed together, the stories shared, the laughter that filled a room, and the steady presence of a man who was always willing to help.

Jim’s life was a reminder that love is often shown in simple acts—through hard work, generosity, reliability, and time spent with those who matter most. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

A Memorial Service celebrating Jim’s life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2001 Rainbow Drive, Clearwater, Florida.

As we remember Jim, we celebrate a life well lived, a heart well shared, and a man whose legacy will endure in the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
