Hazel Edna Unietis

Hazel “Jenny” Unietis passed away on May 27, 2023. She was born on Halloween night in 1934 at her family home in Rocky Mt. Virginia. Jenny graduated high school and decided to strike out on her own. In 1954 Jenny went to New York City to pursue her dream of becoming a model. She took many jobs while pursuing her career, including waitressing and bartending as well as working at iconic places like Macy’s and F.A.O. Swartz. After deciding that modeling was not for her, she moved to Jacksonville, Fl. where she met her eventual husband, Chuck. They soon married in 1959 and spent their honeymoon in Miami where they saw Frank Sinatra perform. In 1960 Scott was born and was soon followed by Barry and Keith. The family moved to Tampa in 1965 and has lived in the area ever since. Jenny and Chuck were married for 54 years. They were deeply in love. They spent their later years between Tampa and North Carolina where they enjoyed the outdoors and made many friendships. They also traveled across the globe to places like Australia, Alaska, Ireland, and Spain. Jenny was a very outgoing and wonderful soul. She loved people and people seemed to gravitate toward her kind and loving personality. Jenny will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Jenny is survived by her sons Scott (LuAnn), Barry, Keith (Mindi); grandchildren Jovana (Heath), Schaneal, Sam, Sierra; greatgrandchildren Cyler and Phin; and sister Wynn.
