
Fred married his wife, Caroline, on January 26, 1957. They moved to Florida in October of 1958.
Fred was a jewelry and silver engraver and owned Abalene Engravers in St. Petersburg, Florida. Fred had a love for flying and was a private pilot for many years. Fred and Caroline loved to camp and visited state and national parks throughout the United States. Fred was a longtime member of the Westside Optimist Club serving in numerous positions. Fred was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg for sixty years. In their retirement, Fred and Caroline spent summers in Otto, North Carolina, where they were members of Resurrection Lutheran Church.
Fred is survived by Caroline, his wife of sixty-four years; four sons, Fred III (Linda), Chris (Sherri), Tim (Mary), and Andrew (Lisa); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Judy Troast (Richard); his sister-in-law, Barbara Keirn; four nieces and two nephews.
At Fred’s request his ashes will be interred in the memorial garden at Our Savior Lutheran Church, as part of a private family gathering.
