

Ernest C. Wright Jr. (Ernie) passed away on Jan 8, 2026. He was 81 years old and lived the last 10 years in Dunedin, Fl. He died at home with family after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Erie, PA. to Ernest Wright Sr. and Cornelia (Corky) Kwiatkowski Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Patricia Wright and Priscilla Lecker and his guide dogs Maya and Slate.
He lived in Erie, PA for many years and attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Cathedral Prep. He graduated from Gannon College in 1965 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He was a part of the APD Fraternity. He worked for many years at American Sterilizer and Zurn Corp. Ernie was involved in the community.
He was a Boy Scout Leader at St George Catholic Church and helped several boys achieve their Eagle Scout award. When attending St. Patrick Church in Erie he helped in the food bank. He worked as an advocate for the blind by participating with the American Council of the Blind and the Lions Club. Ernie was legally blind for part of his life and had 2 beautiful guide dogs who helped him to remain independent. He was married to Kathleen Para after meeting on a blind date in college, and they remained soulmates and partners for 55 years.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, son Jeffrey Wright and daughter Christine Wright, grandchildren Mariah Graves (Terry), Alex Roberts, Jamie Roberts, Hunter Michael, great-grandchildren Mason Wright and Tucker Graves, brother Ronald Wright (wife Kathy), cousin Annmarie George, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life and interment will be held in Erie, PA at a later date.
