Dorothy A. Landry

August 31, 1941 – October 24, 2026
Obituary of Dorothy A. Landry
Dorothy A. (Mailhot) Landry, 85, of Gulfport, FL, previously of Pawtucket and Rumford, RI, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026, in St. Petersburg, FL.

Dottie, as she was known to many, was born on August 31, 1941, in Providence, RI, to the late Henry and Jeannette (Joseph) Mailhot. She grew up in Pawtucket and graduated from Pawtucket West High School in 1959. In 1961 Dottie married the love of her life, Gerard D. (Jerry) Landry, and they were married for 65 precious years.

Her career began as a dietary aide at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital, and she later became employed by Providence Lying-In Hospital. Dottie continued her employment with them as they transitioned to becoming Women & Infants Hospital, where she retired from as a histology lab technician.

Along with her loving and devoted husband, Jerry, Dottie leaves behind her daughter, Sheri A. Dumas, and her husband, Steven; her son, Daniel M. Landry, and his wife, Janet. Her loved ones include her granddaughters, Samantha Nolan and her husband, Kyle; Lauren Landry; Alicia Dumas and her husband, Mario; Christina Dumas and Catharine Weidemann as well as her great grandchildren, Macie Nolan, Mireya Dumas, Jarred, Madelynn and Samantha. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Richard Mailhot, and his wife, Suzanne; her sister, Lillian Pollitt, and her husband, George; and her late sister Jeannette Hall and late husband, Robert Courtemanche. She will also be remembered by several cousins and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Dottie enjoyed many wonderful relationships with not only her family members but also with her lifelong friends in Rhode Island and Florida (Beachway Park). She was known for her loving nature, kindness and sense of humor and will be remembered as someone who always spoke her mind. Family and friends will forever cherish the many holidays and fun-filled pool parties she and Jerry hosted at their home in Rumford.

Dottie's passing leaves an irreplaceable void, but the love she gave us will keep her forever in our hearts and comfort us during this most difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date and will take place in Gulfport, Florida. As a long-time supporter of Boston Children's Hospital in Massachusetts, the family requests any donations be made directly to the hospital in her memory.
