Donald Arthur Sell, born on March 25, 1935, passed to his Heavenly Father on April 9, 2024, at the Coral Oaks Senior Living Community in Tampa, FL. He was surrounded by the memories of his life, both joyous and challenging.
Donald's story was one marked by love, family, and the complexities of existence. He was born into a world on the cusp of great change in Chicago, IL, and throughout his 89 years, he experienced the shifting tides of history, forging his path with resilience and determination. His professional career in sales and marketing started in Chicago in product management with Montgomery Ward’s and success moved his family to California, Pennsylvania, Missouri and north to Canada. He retired as President of Vermont American in Denver, NC, where he and “Bobbie” built a life committed to their community and church, Lake Norman Lutheran Church. Don served as President at Lake Norman and served on various committees. Even in retirement, he remained active, heading up their Homeowner’s association, and volunteering for literacy and hospice.
In the loving embrace of his late wife, Roberta E. Sell, Donald found his anchor. Together, they navigated the highs and lows of life, sharing a bond that transcended the passage of time. Their union was blessed with two children, Kim Keener (Barney) of Mississippi and Brian Sell (Donna) of Georgia, who became the pride and joy of their lives. He loved sharing their successes.
Donald's legacy extends beyond his immediate family to include his cherished grandchildren: Madison Cobb (Dusty), Chandler, and Dawson, and his great-granddaughter, Dottie. He took great delight in watching them grow and was most proud of all of them and all that they accomplished in life. He felt his success in life was evident through the success of his family. They will forever carry his spirit forward, a testament to his enduring love.
Let us recall his laughter, his kindness, and the moments of joy he shared. May he find peace in the embrace of eternity, reunited with his beloved wife, and watching over his dear family from above.
Donald Arthur Sell will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his soul find solace in the infinite expanse of the universe, where pain and sorrow yield to the eternal tranquility of existence. Rest in peace, Donald, knowing that you were loved beyond measure. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Lake Norman Lutheran Church, Denver, NC.
