Cousin Charlie and I lived a 1000 miles apart, but always felt that strong family/childhood bond when we reconnected.

My friend Charlie was a fishing fool and all you had to do was walk in his place to see that. I enjoyed our time fishing and working on my boat together.  We shared good times off the water and what I will remember most is no matter where we ran into each other he always came up to me with a smile.  Charlie lived a charmed life because he was in Pass A Grille and will always be a legend to me.

My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to the Kottmeier family, and to those who knew and loved Charlie. A bright light taken far too soon.

I was Charlie’s science teacher when he was at St. Paul’s School. I also coached him in a few sports during that time. It was such a pleasure teaching and coaching Charlie. He was a leader, a great athlete, and someone who seemed to make everyone’s life better. There were a lot of great moments at that time. Charlie was one of the leaders of the wedgie squad. We may have been the only school in history where the teachers and coaches got wedgies, which tells you things could get a little crazy and lots of fun. It sounds like Charlie kept making lives better as an adult.
To my regret, I did not keep in contact with him after St. Paul’s, although in the last couple of I caught up with Linda on Facebook.  My prayers are with your friends and families. Please let me know if there is a memorial service.

My heart is sooo heavy I can barely write what I feel. .  Just got off the phone with Rich so I'm sure you heard all   the memories. PAG misses you and I will awaysl miss & love you dearly my friend.   I love  you Charlie with all my heart❤️

Charlie was one of my first friends in PAG. He was Magic like his boat. We used to have the best Fisheries conversations in Shads and at home. When Capt. Joe jumped in I had no chance. But he taught me many things over the last 16 years.  I’m gonna miss my little brother and our two bridge rule. RIP CAKii

I am so sorry to hear of Charlie passing. I have not seen him in years but I had some of the best times of my life growing up that Charlie was a big part of. He was always such a sweetheart to me and our friend group. Our memories will hold him close forever.

There is so much I could say but instead I’ll just look back on these memories and smile. These fishing trips brought laughter, tears, and yelling that always brought me back for more. Thank you for it all.
