Cathy entered and left this world moving and shaking (and talking!) and like the energy bunny, she just never stopped. She loved school and made lifelong friends from each school she attended. She was a very independent gal and as soon as she graduated high school she left Regina and never looked back.
She went to technical school for data processing and then headed to the big city of Calgary, Alberta. Cathy had a full life in Calgary with a lively group of friends and a very successful career, but somehow she ended up in Tampa, Florida (via Houston, Texas) almost four decades ago, before settling into her
beloved forever home on Treasure Island for the past 32 years. Cathy was a kick ass spearfishing mermaid who lived life to the fullest both in the water and on land. She was happiest on a boat or in a plane, no matter what its size. She enjoyed travels around the world including her annual trip to Belize for Jerry Jeff Walker’s band camp. She loved to win the pot at Bunco or a few quarters at MahJong. Her other passions were needlework, puzzles, reading spy novels, being part of an awesome mystery book
club and the Red Hats. In later years, her second home was the St Pete Beach Public Library.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister Shelley, nephew Matthew, her best friend and boating husband Ed and his real wife Beth, her spearfishing ex-husband Mike, highschool bestie Dave, special neighbours Gino and Kelli, many wonderful cousins, neighbours and friends who were like family.
The million dollar mermaid is now swimming with the dolphins. The next time you are out on the water and see bioluminescence, know that it is Cathy continuing to spread her sparkles. Swim free Cathy, swim free.
