Barbara F Cohn

Barbara F. Cohn, 75, of Tarpon Springs, passed away on March 10, 2023 at Palm Garden of Clearwater under the care of Suncoast Hospice. Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Richard Cohn, daughters, Laura (Franko) Francisco and Jennifer (Franko) Schneider, stepchildren, Donna Cohn, Karen (Cohn) Hegeman and Paul Cohn, 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Barbara was especially fond of her daughter-in-law, Catherine Cohn, and her great-grandson, Izaac Orton. Barbara was a beautiful soul who loved children and touched countless lives as a teacher, mother and grandmother. Barbara grew up in Brookfield Wisconsin, the daughter of Margaret and Henry Goeden, and moved to Florida in 1973 where she taught at Cypress Elementary School and Richey Fundamental Elementary School, in kindergarten and first grade, for 30 years until she retired. She was much loved by her students and many returned to visit with her years later. She enjoyed music, had a gorgeous singing voice. Barbara loved geology and enjoyed collecting rocks and fossils. She enjoyed teaching about the things she collected and sharing her interest with others. She liked watching musicals and passed her love for the old classics on to her children and grandchildren. After retirement, Barbara and her husband enjoyed traveling in their RV, visiting at length with their grandchildren and exploring new places. Barbara was the eternal optimist, she retained her positive outlook throughout the many health related struggles she endured in her later years. She will be fondly remembered for her love of life and learning, her 20 second hugs and famous back scratches, as well as trips to Disney World, Busch Gardens, dollar stores, zoos, aquariums, and buffet style restaurants with her grandchildren. Moreover, she will be remembered for the thoughtful little gestures she showered on everyone around her. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. The world was a better place with her in it. A memorial service is to be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Kidney Fund in Barbara’s name.
