Ambers "Ray" Huff, age 74, of Largo, passed away on June 3, 2026. Ray was born on April 11, 1952 in Grayson County, Kentucky to the late Ambers and Verbal (Bratcher) Huff. Those closest to him fondly knew him as “Shorty.”
Ray met his wife, Donna, on July 26th, 1993 and they remained together ever since. Ray and Donna were married on April 11th, 1996, having just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
Professionally, Ray spent his life working as a golf course Superintendent between Kentucky and Tennessee. After moving to Florida in 2016, he spent his days at Smuggler's Cove chasing golf balls and alligators. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and was also an avid fan of UK basketball, but his biggest passion in life was Ford Mustangs - his first one being a 64.5.
Most importantly, Ray will be remembered for the unwavering devotion he showed to his family and friends. He was a man who sometimes came across as gruff, but was as loyal as they came and had an absolute heart of gold. And while he may have been a man of few words, those who knew him also knew that the more he picked on you, the more he loved you.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Donna; and four children, Jason Huff (Amanda), Johnnie Bindner (Katie), Misty Ward (Matt), and Katelyn Carver (Kyle). He also leaves behind 2 sisters, Martha Payton and Barbara Gardner; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Danny Payton, whom he grew up closely with; as well as several cousins. Ray will also be dearly missed by his furry best friend and beloved little yorkie, Veta.
Along with his parents, Ray was preceded in death his brother, Marion Huff; and his grandchild, Michael Huff.
Information on Ray’s Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
