Born on December 3, 1941, in San Francisco, California, to George B. Archibald and Eleanor A. Bertelsen, Wayne's early life laid the foundation for a man of intellect and kindness.
Wayne's professional journey began with a significant role as a telecommunication engineer at Motorola. His expertise and dedication led him to establish and set up the entire telecommunications infrastructure across the Hawaiian Islands, a testament to his skills and pioneering spirit. Later in his career, he brought his technical prowess to the Superior Courts on the Northern Mariana Islands, serving as a dedicated systems administrator.
Beyond his professional life, Wayne had a deep curiosity and a love for learning, particularly when it came to computers. He could often be found immersed in the latest technology, a passion he enthusiastically shared with his family. Alongside his fascination with the digital world, Wayne was an avid reader with a keen interest in science fiction, often losing himself in tales of other worlds and possibilities. Evenings were often spent enjoying classic and new sci-fi movies, a pastime that brought him much joy.
But above all else, Wayne's greatest passions were his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Agnes Archibald, and a loving father to his daughters, Marie (and her husband Thomas Sargee), Suzanne Archibald, and Jennifer Dixon. His grandchildren – Hunter, Jaime, and Kelly Sargee; Noah Archibald; Jay Quenga and Adrianna Archibald – were the apples of his eye. He cherished every moment spent with them, sharing his humor, his patience, and his unwavering love. Whether it was explaining the intricacies of a new gadget or simply sharing a bowl of ice cream or a warm mug of hot cocoa, he created lasting memories with each of them.
Wayne's personality was a unique blend of humor and heart. He had a wonderfully funny and witty nature, often delivered with a touch of sarcasm that was always endearing. Beneath his playful exterior was a man of immense love, patience, and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word.
A funeral service to celebrate Wayne's life will be held at St. Lawrence Church, located at 44633 Utica Rd, Utica, MI 48317, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 10:00 am. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his wife, Agnes; his daughters and their families; his sisters, Diane Archibald and Sandy Rumble; and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His laughter, his wisdom, and his loving spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
