Plymouth, MI - Susan V. Ream passed away peacefully on January 13th after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. While her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew her, her spirit, warmth, sense of humor and enduring love will remain present in all those whose lives she touched.
Sue was born in Detroit on October 19th, 1946 to Howard and Melva Cronenwett. When Sue was 5 her family moved to Royal Oak where she attended St. Mary's School along with brothers Frank and Paul and sister Mary. Sue loved her years at St. Mary's High School and was a cheerleader and member of the Drama Club and participated in many social activities under the watchful eyes of the nuns. Upon graduation Sue enrolled at Michigan State where she met her future husband, Jim, on a blind date.
Sue and Jim were married on January 3rd, 1969 while Jim was home on leave from Ft. Bliss Texas with the Army. On February 19th, 1970 Sue gave birth to their son, Daniel at the Army hospital at Ft. Carson Colorado.
At the end of Jim's tour of duty they returned to Royal Oak where on May 27th, 1970 Sue gave birth to a second son, Michael. Thirty two years later Michael would provide Sue with her only grandchild, Maddie. A beautiful young lady who now attends college in Reno, Nevada.
Jim and Sue moved their young family to Canton in 1977 and shortly after, Sue took a job as the Pastor's Secretary at St. Michael Lutheran Church. She held that position for 15 years and during that time experienced a growth in her faith and ministered to many others in their walk with Jesus. She sang in the choir and was also a Stephen's Minister.
Sue had a wide variety of talents and interests including cross stitching, reading, walking, playing pinochle, but her favorite thing to do was play golf. It is impossible to guess how many rounds she played over the years or how many different courses she played but I can assure you she enjoyed every one of them. And anyone who played with her enjoyed her company no matter the score. Sue also really enjoyed a cold beer and a burger after golf on a warm summer day.
There will be a memorial service for Sue on February 16th at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Canton with visitation at 11:00 am and the service at Noon. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to find a cure for Parkinson's.
