

Shelly Lea Smart, age 61 of Rochester Hills, passed peacefully on August 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 21, 1963 in Petoskey, MI and attended Inland Lakes Schools. She met the love of her life in her hometown, where they embarked on many business ventures, and eventually settled in Rochester Hills.
Shelly was preceded in death by her sister Tracy Beaudry, sister Kathy Parrott Cooper, Son Kenneth Smart, and stepdad Art Slocum. She was survived by her husband of 28 years Jeffrey Smart, daughter Kayla (Joe) Peltier, daughter Amber (Rob) Hall, daughter Charlotte Smart, daughter Shannon (Gary) Lee, daughter Rachael Bloch, son Leon (Geri) Bunker, son Michael Meadows, daughter Rachel Bunker, son Shawn (Jessie) Bunker, mother Mary Slocum, father Jim (Patricia) Parrott, brother Kevin (Jessie) Parrott, and sister Sherrel Parrott. Shelly also leaves behind 28 beloved grandchildren and one great grandchild. She loved her family fiercely, all of her nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and several other people she held near and dear to her heart.
Shelly was a kind hearted and thoughtful woman who had a forgiving soul. She selflessly spent her adult life devoted to her husband and extended family she willfully chose to embrace and love. She had an infectious smile and a memorable laugh.
She was a collector of all things Coca Cola. She loved the Michigan lottery, casinos, and game nights with her family. You could find her thrifting and yard-saling in her spare time. She loved all of the babies of the family, and had a way of making everyone feel special and important, without hesitation or question. She was dedicated to her career, where she spent most of her life working with the public. In doing so, Shelly has left a huge impact on many people, including but not limited to, coworkers, friends, and acquaintances.
Shelly was a bright light on a dark day. She lived a life of love and beauty. One thing we can all learn from her is to love thy neighbor. The love she portrayed for everyone and everything is an asset we can only hope to desire.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Shelly's life on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at The Lions Club: 4439 M-68, Indian River, MI, 49749 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
