

Kalkaska – Richard Paul Ridky was born on October 21, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan at the age of 97 with his family by his side.
Richard was known as “Dick” by his family. He was preceded in death and reunited in Heaven with his parents Paul and Gertrude Ridky of Centerline, Michigan, his wife Dolores (Frazier) Ridky of 55 years, his daughter Deborah A. Zelkowski, his son Jeffrey G. Ridky and his grandson Kurtis R. White along with his siblings, Rosemary Sieders, Shirley Atkinson and Paul Ridky, Jr.
Richard married Dolores (Dee) on February 27, 1954 in Warren. Together they raised five children in East Detroit and retired to Kalkaska, Michigan in 1987.
After Richard retired from Chrysler with over 40+ years of service, together they enjoyed over 20 years of retirement surrounding themselves in the beauty of northern Michigan. They built an amazing residence for their entire family on Cub Lake in Kalkaska. A dream that came to life with Richard’s excellent craftsmanship. While taking breaks from construction through the years, they enjoyed going out to dinner and visiting casinos together. A workshop was also erected and housed the makings of many custom-made wood furniture pieces and treasures for his family including a marble board game that he named “Marble Mayhem”. He received many orders as word spread and shipped them throughout the country.
Richard was a determined, hard working man and loved providing for his family and those on the lake with annual celebrations of cheer and bonfires.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Sandra White of Warren, Matthew Ridky of St. Clair Shores, and Patricia (Giuseppe) Lisi of St. Clair Shores; his seven precious grandchildren, Jeremy (Becky) Ridky, Sheylyn Ridky, Sara Ridky, Kevin (Karsyn) White, Rachel Ridky, Brianna (Brian) Pyles and Joseph (Natalie) Lisi; and his two precious great grandchildren Ellie Jean Ridky and Birdee Brie White with a third on the way. He is also survived by his siblings Nancy Peuterbaugh, James Ridky and Mary Joyce Martlock.
The family will welcome a visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. with mass to begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at St. Mary Our Lady Queen of Families Parish, 8075 Ritter St., Center Line, MI 48015, with Father Mark Livingston of St. Augustine, Richmond, Michigan officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made in Richard’s name to Hospice of Michigan, 2366 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48103 where he was cared for both in Kalkaska and St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
