Rhoda May Atkinson

Rhoda May Vollmar Lontz Atkinson (Ricki), 87 of Clawson, MI, passed away at Henry Ford Hospital, Macomb on January 28, 2023.

Ricki was born May 1, 1935 to Clarence and Martha Vollmar in Fort Wayne, IN and is predeceased by three sisters: Lois Dickinson, Dorothy Wilbur and Carol Moore Hadley and her son Jeffrey Kenneth Lontz.

She married James Kenneth Lontz in Sept.1953 and then Robert Lee Atkinson in August 1971 and was an aide to U.S. Sen. Birch Bayh.

Ricki is survived by her youngest sister, Constance Vollmar, her daughter Cheri Lontz Natho (68) of Melvindale, MI and her son John Brian Lontz (61) of Kernersville, NC. Ricki has 6 grandchildren: Jennifer Bacon, Joshua Holman, Angela Lontz, Brooke Paulsson, Jeremy Lontz and Taylor Lontz, and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ricki loved Nascar, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and jazz and blues music (particularly Dixieland) and was a longtime member of the Greater Detroit Jazz Society.

Ricki will be cremated and her Celebration of Life will be at Shields, 25101 Telegraph, Southfield, MI 48034 on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 12 noon-3pm
