Nicholas Pastor, age 92, of West Bloomfield, Michigan passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023. Nicholas Steve Pastor of West Bloomfield (formerly of Birmingham), passed away at home on January 15, 2023, at the age of 92. He was born on September 2, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. Nick is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sandra Pastor. Beloved father of Todd Pastor (Belinda) and Timothy Pastor. Cherished step-father of Michelle Dolan (Joseph). Step-father of Richard Bredow., Jr. Also survived by his wonderful grandchildren, Rebekah Selking, his "birthday buddy", sharing the same birthday (Ryan); Rachel Pastor and J.T. Pastor (Ali). Step grandchildren, Bret Dolan and Chad Dolan; Brianna and Brooklen Bredow. Great grandchild, Micah Selking and step-great grandchild, Nathaniel Bredow. Loving brother of Tony Valik. Predeceased by sister, Dorothy Mehlos. Nicholas and Sandra were married on September 25, 1993. Nicholas graduated from the University of Detroit in 1955.He was a premier architect, owning his own firm, Nicholas Pastor & Associates, Inc. and was a member of the American Institute of Architecture (A.I.A.). He held licenses in Michigan, Ohio, Florida and Arizona. He designed many office buildings, homes, churches, senior living facilities and other structures. One of his favorite projects was designing the office complex of Fieger Law. It was done in phases, over the course of a number of years, as Mr. Fieger continued to expand his building. Nicholas participated in Croatian choruses since he was a youngster. His passion for music continued, and became a member of the Society for the Preservation of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA). He was a talented baritone and sang in three different barbershop choruses throughout many years. He was extremely zealous, and was voted Barbershopper of the Year, and was a permanent fixture in the front row. One of his most special loves was his beautiful lake house on Lake Margrethe in Grayling, Michigan. Of course, he designed it, and devoted many hours tending to the landscape. He loved rocks and boulders and lovingly placed each of hundreds on the property, as well as at our homes in Birmingham and West Bloomfield. Nicholas was always kind hearted, sweet, friendly - and hilarious - and loved his family immensely. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the West Bloomfield United Methodist Church, in West Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, please consider making contributions to the Michigan Animal Rescue League or the Michigan Firefighters Association.
