Maureen was born on March 3, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan to Starr and Dorthy Thompson. She was a graduate of Sexton High School. Maureen's professional journey led her to retire from the Lansing School District, where she served as a secretary for many years. However, her true passion and purpose in life came from being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Maureen was married to James Sartor for 54 years.
Maureen enjoyed various hobbies and interests. She cherished spending winters in Florida, where she could soak up the sun. Maureen was an exceptional homemaker, finding joy in cooking, cleaning and caring for her family. She was the ultimate caretaker, always putting the needs of others before her own. In her leisure time, Maureen loved the thrill of visiting the casino and trying her luck. She had a keen eye for finding the best deals while shopping and enjoyed the excitement of a good bargain. Maureen was also a sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for the University of Michigan (Go Blue)!
Maureen is survived by her son, James Sartor; granddaughter Jamie (Zachary) Collins; granddaughter Brandy (Kyle) Quinn, and great grandsons Jay, Cash, Memphis, and Ace, and siblings Arlene Meekhof, Gary Thompson, and Ann Thompson. Her legacy of love will forever live on in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband James (Buck) Sartor and parents Starr and Dorthy Thompson.
A memorial service to celebrate Maureen's life will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 549 E. Mt. Hope Ave., Lansing, MI 48910.
