Margie was raised in Mackinaw, IL, graduated from Illinois State University, and married her high school sweetheart, Patrick Thompson. They settled in Rockford, IL, where they raised their family and were active in education, community, and church. Margie received her master's degree in education from Northern Illinois University. Retirement included travel and wintering in Florida, where they eventually lived full time. They moved to Rockford, MI, a few years ago to be closer to their daughter, Kelli.
Margie loved singing, starting with "the Sexy Six" in high school, as well as choirs and all around the house. She enjoyed games, especially Mah Jong, socializing, shopping, golfing, taking walks, and living in Florida. She was a volunteer for so many groups, including church activities, committees, and hospice. Outgoing and friendly, she prided herself in writing letters and cards to keep in touch with family and friends.
Margie was preceded in death by parents, Hilda and Dean Dilkey, big brother Stan and sister Patricia, daughter, Marci, and grandchildren, Owen and Dean. She is survived by her husband of over 64 years, Patrick, and daughter, Kelli, and her partner, Patrick Corcoran, and grandson, Ivan and many extended loved family members.
