

Jimmie Sue Daniels died peacefully in Rochester, Michigan, on December 1, 2023, at the age of 90. She is survived by her three children, son Michael Daniels and wife Dianne of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Abigail Daniels of Waterford, MI; son Andrew Daniels and wife Joyce of Manchester, MI; and grandchildren Ashley Daniels, Alexandra Daniels, Emma Rush, Daniel Smith, Sarah Smith, and Calvin Daniels.
Jimmie Sue Evans was born on May 24, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA, to Jessie and Henderson Evans. She married David Daniels in 1956. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College.
Jimmie Sue taught elementary school for 25 years, 22 of them in Rochester Community Schools at McGregor Elementary. She is fondly remembered by many former students and colleagues alike, who recall her calm interactions and supportive nature. Jimmie Sue especially loved children's literature. She delighted in sharing her enthusiasm for reading with her young students as well as her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Jimmie Sue retired from teaching in 1993 and was recognized by her colleagues with a hallway named in her honor.
JImmie Sue was a lifelong supporter of the arts and enjoyed a variety of live performances. Throughout her lifetime, she was a dedicated, enthusiastic fan in attendance at Warren Symphony Orchestra and Oakland University concerts, conducted by her husband. Jimmie Sue also loved attending Eisenhower Dance Ensemble performances, and for several years was a member of the Board of Directors.
JImmie Sue will be dearly missed by her sons, daughter, grandchildren, and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Daniels, and sisters, Mary Anne Singleton and Sally Hunt.
