Jerry passed away at the age of 87. He was born to Edward and Helen Behen. He was the youngest of eight siblings, all of whom have since passed away—Edward, Jane Einheuser, Mary Louise Fogarty, Margaret (Peggy) Inman Ernst, Dennis, Patrick, and James Behen. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Andrea Behen Hayes.
Jerry attended St. Mary’s of Redford for both grade school and high school and was proud to be a SMR Rustics. He married at a young age and was blessed with four children: Gerald, Timothy, twins Mary Jo Behen Grand, and the late Kevin.
In 1982, Jerry remarried Anne Owen, who passed away in 2022. Anne left behind five children: Kathy, Phoebe, Willie, the late Annette, and Lynda.
Professionally, he built a successful career as a sales representative in the food industry. An avid golfer throughout his life, after moving to Florida in 2001 with Ann, he became a member of San Carlos Golf Course where he played daily and enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow golfers.
Gerald Lee Behen will be remembered by his two sons, his devoted daughter, three stepchildren, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on May 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Colette’s Catholic Church in Livonia, followed by a luncheon at O’Malley’s Pub in Livonia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Boys Town, a charity close to Jerry’s heart. Boys Town, P.O. Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010
