

Doreen May Volpe, 99, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to so many. She loved being with family and friends above all else. She was deeply loved and cherished, always willing to share a hug, a song, or a chat.
Doreen was born on July 25, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Albert and Bertha Clayton. She lived 99 wonderful years raising her family in Plymouth Michigan, moving to Florida then returning to be close to family in the last several years.
She is survived by her beloved husband Sam Volpe, son Kevin Volpe, daughters Kathleen Kane and Karen Lannoo (Paul); grandchildren Matthew, Joseph, Jonathan, Anthony, Alecia (Ryne Sr.), Andrea; great grandchildren Aiden, Tyler, Logan, Lorelei, Kaylee, Ryne Jr., Journey, Rylee.
She was a professional singer with an unmatched soprano voice. She was involved with the Detroit Civic Light Opera, Windsor Civic Light Opera, the Ford Chorus and Continentals, a soloist with her church choir, and singer for many weddings and events. She loved her music and her musical friends often filling the house with spontaneous sing-alongs. She appeared on the Arthur Godfrey show on April 11, 1949, after winning a singing contest held at the Fox Theater in Detroit. Throughout her life, she found joy, solace, and love singing and listening to music.
Doreen loved golf and enjoyed playing with Sam and friends. She was wonderful at arts and crafts. She enjoyed antiquing with friends and traveling. She loved playing cards, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sam and Doreen loved family vacations and opportunities to expose their children to fun family adventures. They traveled around the United States and parts of Europe.
She had a deep faith and was a devoted Christian, always willing to lend a hand or help others.
Her home was the center of so many wonderful holidays, birthdays, parties, and good times. She loved hosting a gathering surrounded by family and friends sharing the night with laughter and joy and always music.
Doreen brought so much love into so many of our lives, all who loved her are forever grateful to be a part of her long life. She will be remembered, missed, and loved by so many.
