Dennis Richard Burrill

Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Deborah Gayle Burrill; his children, Dennis (Heidi) Burrill, Cathryn (Ron) Farmer, and Kaye (Gene) Swee; and his cherished grandchildren, Joshua (Noelle), Tiffany (Trey), Branden, Sabrina (Thomas), Ty, Nate, and Olivia. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Camryn, Madalynn, and Everett; his brother, Michael (Pam) Burrill; and many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and extended family members. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Altazarah Burrill.

He spent many years working at GMC Truck and Bus in Pontiac, Michigan before retiring.

Dennis gave a great deal of his time to coaching his children in sports. He had a way of getting everyone’s attention that those who played for him still remember and carry many of those memories with them today. More importantly, he showed up—as a husband, father, and coach. He was present for the moments that mattered most.

We didn’t always understand everything he faced, especially the hardships that came with his injuries. He met them with undeniable strength and perseverance. While he may not have spoken often about them, his resilience was evident, and his commitment to his family never wavered. He was always there—steady, involved, and present.

Dennis held a special place in the hearts of everyone who knew him. His kindness, strength, and enduring spirit will be deeply missed. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his work, and the time he gave to others.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM, with the service beginning at 11:00 AM. Services will be held at The Orchards at Canterbury on the Lake, St. Mark’s Episcopal Chapel, 5601 Hatchery Road, Waterford, Michigan 48329.
