Andrew “Drew” Fugate was born on December 15, 1983, in Sarasota, FL.
With a curious mind, a soaring imagination, and the heart of a Viking warrior, Drew embraced life head-on—tall, blue-eyed, and strong, ready for hard work, big ideas, and the people he loved.
A born world-builder, he spent his childhood constructing Lego fortresses, his teen years mastering the digital realms of SimCity and World of Warcraft, and his young adulthood creating galaxies of strange new worlds in his science fiction writing. These tales brimmed with culture, history, and character—clear proof of a vivid imagination.
Drew’s inner world was vast, yet he also thrived in the real one. He ran, jumped, horsed around, practiced karate, and played softball. Surrounded by a wide circle of friends, he was rarely alone—and it’s easy to see why.
Fierce in love, deep in thought, and quick to laugh, Drew’s big heart, passionate mind, and warrior’s courage drew countless kindred spirits into his orbit. Those who knew him will never forget him. His story ended too soon, but those he touched feel honored to be part of it.
Drew’s story lives on in the hearts of his father, Marty Fugate; his mother, Beverly Jordan Bush; his brother, Daniel Fugate; his stepmother, Su Byron; his aunts and uncles, Johelen Fugate, Melissa Stanley, Viki Smith, and Ken Smith; his nieces and nephews, Erin Vernere, Mike Vernere, Sean Adley, and Jackson Stanley; and Sarah May, and all the other close friends who shared his days.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
