Robert Lee Haight

Robert "Bob" Lee Haight, 89, of Tampa, Florida and formerly of Stockton, IL, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026. Born on April 29, 1937, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Bob lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his faith.

Bob graduated from Stockton High School in 1956, where he excelled as a football and basketball player. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. Over the course of an impressive 21-year military career, Bob served with distinction as an HC-130 Flight Engineer. His service included two tours in Vietnam and took him to various parts of the world. Bob's commitment to duty and his contributions to his country were a source of immense pride for both him and his family.

In addition to his military achievements, Bob was a devoted family man. He married Peggy Hyatt in 1967, and together they raised two children: Tina (James) Kane and Troy (Frances) Haight, both of Tampa, Florida and along with two step-boys Michael and Dion Baize. After Peggy's passing in February 1988, Bob found love again and married Rhodora in 1993. With Rhodora, he helped raise her daughter Morielle (John) Praphanchith.

Bob's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Dominic (Pearl) Palomo, Meisha Haight, Joseph (Ruth) Gasper, Leigh Ann Gasper, James Gasper, David Gasper, and Jace Gruber; as well as his great-grandchildren: little Troy Haight, Matilda Gasper, Alexander and Devin Palomo. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews—Laurie Coleman, Kelly Nadig, Troy White, Jamie White, Kevin Werkheier, Michele Vincent-Nettles, Mark Vincent—and many great-nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.

He was predeceased by his parents Ellsworth "Ike" and Margaret Haight; sisters Carole Suess, Mari Lynn White, and Patsy Jo Werkheiser; as well as one niece Wendy Dawson. Bob is survived by his loving wife Rhodora in Tampa, FL.

Those who knew Bob remember him as a loving man who deeply valued family above all else. His unwavering devotion to those he loved made an indelible impact on their lives. While he earned his flying wings during his time on earth as an Air Force veteran, it brings comfort to know that he has now earned his Heavenly wings with God.

A Funeral Service will be held on August 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bushnell National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL, 33513 With full Military Honors service. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 9, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Team House 6207 South Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33611.
