

Margie was born in Birmingham, AL and raised in the surrounding area. She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Lorene (Culwell) West, her father, Howard Hoops, her sister, Loretta (Moon) Neely (and Larry), her daughter Rachael (Mickle) Trott and her beloved Golden Retriever, Duke and Australian Shepherd, Zip.
She leaves behind her sister, Vickie (Reid) Unrue, her nephew, Joseph Reid (and Lyndsay), her niece, Shelly (Neely) Putnam (and Dennis), her granddaughter Madison Trott, her great grandson, Houston Trott, her great nephew, Cody Putnam (and Shelby), her great, great nephew Sawyer Putnam, and her significant other, John Schelmbauer.
For many years Margie worked in Senior Leadership in the field of Safety in such prestigious companies as International Paper, she was their 1st female Vice President in Charge of Safety! She also devoted many years in that same field with Honeywell Aeronautics, and WestRock (formerly known as KapStone Paper & Packaging) from which she recently retired. During her career, Margie helped protect and save countless numbers of lives, and conducted Safety audits on the Central Park Zoo, and NASA at Kennedy Space Center for their VPP Certification Program. Margie was a real trail blazer, highly regarded in her field, a leader, trainer, subject matter expert and an excellent roll model.
Margie's family is deeply saddened by their profound loss. They ask for your prayers and understanding as they grieve quietly in private.
No funeral services are planned as Margie chose cremation. Her ashes will be released into the Atlantic Ocean from the same Beach that her daughter, Rachael's ashes were released, thus giving her back to our God and Creator.
In the future, a Celebration of Life Gathering will be arranged for family and friends to come together, share good food, laugh, tell funny stories, and remember her in love and in the joy she brought into each of our lives.
