Donald Raymond LaCroix

Donald Raymond LaCroix (Don) of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the age of 87. Don was born on July 5, 1939 in Rochester, New York, where he grew up surrounded by his mother, father and sister. He spent 65 wonderful years married to the love of his life, Nadine, exploring the world and making beautiful memories.

Don worked for and ultimately retired from the Greece Central School District, where he served as the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor. Prior to that, he was the owner of a Texaco station in Greece, New York, and was also co-owner of a Body and Fender shop in Hilton, New York. He proudly served our Country as a member of the Army Reserves.

Don was happiest when he was keeping busy and creating something with his hands. He was an avid golfer, accomplished poker player, and talented woodworker who spent hours in his shop. His creativity knew no bounds, and he designed and built countless original pieces, including furniture, home décor and custom golf clubs that he often gifted to family and friends.

He was a gifted golfer and achieved the remarkable accomplishment of six holes-in-one. He was a Pine Lakes Country Club champion and enjoyed the thrill of competition, whether it was on the golf course or around a poker table, where he won numerous poker tournaments. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar and was a lifetime fan of the Buffalo Bills. He took immense pride in watching his great-grandsons on the basketball court and soccer field. His strong work ethic, determination, generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand were qualities he instilled in his children and grandchildren and that will continue to live on through them.

Don was preceded in death by his Father, Raymond LaCroix; his Mother, Irene LaCroix; his sister, Marianne Liddle; his brothers-in-law, Kenneth Liddle, William Prince and George Streb; and his daughter, Jacqueline LaCroix.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nadine LaCroix; daughters, Deborah LaCroix Mullins (Eric) and Michele LaCroix; granddaughter, Jennifer Bickel (Brian); grandson, Mitchell Rueckwald and great-grandsons, Brice and Aiden Bickel, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Don leaves behind much more than memories. He leaves behind the things he built with his hands, the lessons he taught by example, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. His greatest legacy, however, will always be the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched along the way.

The family would like to thank Empath Hospice for the care, kindness and compassion they provided to Don and his family during his final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kings Point North Clubhouse in Sun City Center, Florida, on September 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
