Gertrud LeBreux

Gertrud ‘Gertie’ LeBreux, 87, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Formerly from Romulus, New York, she was born on April 17, 1937 in Freiburg Germany, the daughter of the late Frederick Gehring and Maria Ruf, and the loving wife of the late Charles M. LeBreux for over 50 years.

Mrs. LeBreux worked as a baker for several years at Tops Markets in Geneva, NY. She loved traveling with her husband, enjoyed cooking, playing cards, bowling, watching NASCAR races, and gardening, of which growing different kinds of roses was a passion of theirs.

She is survived by her beloved son, Emanuel LeBreux of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Geneva, NY, granddaughter, Sheila P. Haskins of Geneva, NY, sister, Klara Hirt of Villingen, Germany, and a large extended family and many friends. She was the sister of the late Fritz Gehring of Reutlingen, Germany.

A Celebration of Life gathering to honor the life of Gertrud LeBreux will be held on March 22, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Luigi’s Pizzeria, 3883 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Burial will be private at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 1232 Market St., Port Charlotte, FL 33953 or Tidewell Hospice Inc., 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
