Clara Sanford

Clara Sanford passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Winter Springs, FL, at the age of 93. She was born on February 4, 1932, in New Britain, Connecticut – the daughter of Nerses Azizian and Vartanouch Joseph – and the sister to Florence, Gloria and Doris.

Clara graduated from New Britain High School in 1950 and married Weston H. Sanford Jr. on October 18, 1958. They raised 3 children in New Britain, moved to Florida in 2016 and were married 61 years at Weston’s passing in 2019.

Clara was also predeceased by her sisters, Florence and Gloria, and her daughter, Linda C. Hall. She is survived by her sister, Doris Smart of Atlanta, GA, nieces Cheryl Smart of Westminster, SC and Pamela Smart of Atlanta, GA. Clara is also survived by her two sons, Weston H. Sanford III of Walton, KY, his wife Laura, David A. Sanford of Winter Springs, FL, his partner, Wendy Velasquez, seven grandchildren: Jacob Sanford, Evan Sanford, Ryan Hall, Michael Hall, Andrew Sanford, Samantha Willmott and Weston Sanford – as well as four great grandchildren: Sage Sanford, Allister Hall, Sophia Sanford and Andrew Sanford.

Clara found a caring group of men and women when she moved into The Savoy in 2023, a retirement community in Winter Springs, FL. Her family thanks the wonderful managers and residents there who made Clara feel so welcomed and cared for. They reached out to her over meals and during group events and holiday parties and she really enjoyed sitting with them out front and just talking.

Clara’s family would also like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Comfort Keepers of Oviedo, FL and Christian Mejia of Oviedo, FL for the care and compassion they showed to Clara over a 2-year span and in her final days. They each cared for her as if she was a family member - and that will never be forgotten.

The family will have a private Celebration of Life at her home in Winter Springs, FL, on Saturday, October 18th.
