William “Bill” Lee Masterson, 80, passed away July 30, 2026. Born January 30, 1946, Bill made his home in Alpharetta, Georgia, where his steady presence, quick wit, and quietly capable hands became a gift to many. Beloved by family and friends, he carried himself with a faithful heart, a wise perspective, and humor.
Bill grew up in Indiana, alongside an older brother, Tipton, and his fraternal twin, Robert “Bob.” Those early years helped shape the practical, resourceful spirit that stayed with him for life—equal parts steady and curious, grounded and ready to figure things out.
During the Vietnam War, Bill joined the Navy and served four years. He brought that same sense of duty and reliability into the life he built afterward, eventually relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, where the next chapters of family, work, and community took root.
Bill shared 47 years of marriage with his wife, Jane, and the proud role of father to three sons: Nicholas “Nick,” Michael “Mike” (Rhiannon), and James “Jimmy” (Yentl). He was also a delighted grandfather to Max, Miles, Isaac, and Evie—always ready with a grin, a bit of perspective, and the kind of calm guidance that somehow made everyday problems feel solvable. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Tipton (deceased) Masterson, and is also survived by his fraternal twin, Robert “Bob” (Jenny) Masterson, and his sister in law, Catherine Masterson.
A collector at heart, Bill found joy in kites and radios, and he never met a camping trip that couldn’t be improved with a little ingenuity and a well-packed tool kit. He enjoyed auto repair, and his reputation as a handyman was well-earned—Bill could fix anything, and if something truly couldn’t be fixed, he could at least explain why with a smile and a story that made you laugh at the situation instead of groan at it.
Bill also gave his time and steady leadership as a Boy Scout Troop Leader, offering young people the kind of example that doesn’t need a spotlight to be powerful. He attended Northpoint Community Church (Alpharetta, GA), where his faithful spirit and warm, easy manner fit naturally into a community built on care and connection.
More than anything, Bill will be remembered for the way he offered good advice—practical, thoughtful guidance meant for real life, given with wisdom and a touch of humor that made it easier to hear and even easier to carry forward. In a world that can feel complicated, Bill had a way of making the next right step feel clear.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Right at Home Caregivers & Agape Hospice, to the family members and friends who offered support during Bill’s illness, and to the Veterans Administration.
A committal service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA 30114.
